Without your help $10 billion in early learning dollars could be lost. Regardless of when you are reading this alert, please take action and forward it to your networks urging them to provide Florida’s representatives with the support they need to vote for this important early learning bill.
Read the alert sent out by Children’s Campaign’s national partner Pre-K Now to learn more and TAKE ACTION:
First, a House subcommittee denied President Obama's request for early education funding.
Strike one. Then, the full committee voted on Friday not to restore that funding.
Strike two.
Florida's youngest students can't afford for legislators to strike out on pre-kindergarten education.
The good news is that now there's a whole new ball game. Education Committee Chairman George Miller just introduced
new and historic legislation that would make pre-k funding a reality – $1 billion per year for the next 10 years. But it won't happen without your help. We need you to show support for this legislation before the committee votes TOMORROW.
Will you make sure Florida's Representatives go to bat for pre-k?
Send an urgent message to your member of Congress now to make sure the House Education and Labor Committee saves pre-k funding!
Even though President Obama made strong promises to provide unprecedented investments in early education, we have to rely on Congress to write the check. The House Appropriations committee has refused, but the Education Committee has stepped to the plate for our nation's three and four year olds and the pre-k opportunities that will prepare them for school and life.
This legislation might be the last chance this year for the House to fulfill the president's proposals for pre-k education. At times like this, we cannot afford to come up short in our commitment to our children's future. It's up to your member of Congress to make sure that this doesn't happen.
Tell your Representative to support Chairman Miller's pre-k proposal!
If we miss this opportunity, who knows what's in store for families who rely on these crucial pre-k programs? After you've taken action,
please spread the word to your friends and family and make sure that the House Education Committee comes through for early education.
Thank you for your dedication to the millions like Sam still waiting for high-quality pre-k.
Sincerely,
Libby Doggett
