If a picture is worth a thousand words how many is a video worth? See for yourself.

Roy Miller said, “Degreed teachers for a 3-hour day program will require an additional investment of 60-million dollars to be paid to providers.”  He made it abundantly clear that the Children’s Campaign would NOT support the proposed legislation if providers were not compensated to pay for the additional expense of more qualified teachers.  See for yourself.

In answer to the unfounded charge by opponents to degreed teachers that the Children’s Campaign did not allow questions at the town hall meeting, or only took one question, Miller said, “The town hall format as promoted allowed for questions to be submitted in advance on the internet or on cards at the event itself.  The video and audio capacities of the broadcast did not afford the opportunity for audience members to stand up and shout out.  No one watching at home could follow.”

Audience members who submitted questions had them asked.  In fact, the moderator requested them more than once.  See for yourself.

Education and engagement are key components of the Children’s Campaign’s work. We are devoted to telling the truth about children’s issues. We have been and continue to be dedicated to providing citizens and stakeholders with the facts throughout the evolution of pre-k in Florida.

Handouts, messages, and town halls over the past years have spread the reality and promise of pre-k. The Truth About Degreed Teachers: Fact v. Fiction, The Case for Degreed Teachers, Debunking Teacher Capacity, Teacher Qualifications Matter, and Investment and Return for Pre-K Teachers are a few of the ways we have tried to distribute the facts.

We thank the moderator, legislators, speakers, panelists, citizens and pre-k stakeholders attending the event both in person and online.  We have posted the unedited version of the town hall meeting. See for yourself.

Happy New Year!
