SB 0136 Relating to Child Care Personnel Training/Domestic Violence Wilson
Child Care Personnel Training/Domestic Violence [SPCC]; Requires each child care facility to establish standards for instructing child care personnel on matters pertaining to domestic violence. Requires that the instruction include not less than 2 hours of training for new personnel and not less than 1 hour of instruction on a periodic and timely basis for experienced personnel each year thereafter, etc. EFFECTIVE DATE: 07/01/2008.

Provides that a prekindergarten program provided by a public school must comprise at least the same number of instructional hours, etc. EFFECTIVE DATE: 07/01/2008.

Religious-exempt Child Care Programs [SPCC]; Cites this act as the "Zaniyah Hinson Act." Allows child care programs or weekday preschool programs that qualify as religious-exempt child care programs to choose to be exempt from the requirements for child care licensing or to be licensed voluntarily. Provides that if programs choose to be exempt they must meet statutory screening requirements and display a certificate of compliance issued by an accrediting agency, etc. EFFECTIVE DATE: 07/01/2008.

Provides duties of the Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend Region and community colleges. Authorizes the coalition to apply for and secure grants and funding, etc. EFFECTIVE DATE: 07/01/2008.
