Picture the Future, New Advocacy Event

Children's Campaign, Inc., the Early Childhood Association of Florida, and Generations United are pleased to announce a series of new Early Learning Advocacy Events to take place during legislative session 2006.

Collectively, the activities will:

  • Be a solid expression of political will for quality early childhood education that moves public policy;
  • Offer activities and ways to engage providers, parents, seniors, and child advocates;
  • Engage public officials at the local level, with an additional awareness push in Tallahassee; and,
  • Generate attention in key media markets throughout Florida.

The Early Learning Events will include "Picture the Future", an opportunity for four-year-olds across the state to participate in an art project expressing their personal vision of the future. Drawings will be selected randomly and become part of a traveling exhibit. Art will be sent also to policy-makers to underscore the importance of completing the mission of ensuring high quality pre-K in Florida.

A rally in Central Florida will kick-off outreach efforts to extend through the rest of the year as part of the Children's Campaign 5 Promises. "Picture the Future" is sponsored through a grant from Pre-K Now. A complete announcement including partnership opportunities, details, web link and materials will be included in the January edition of the Children's Campaign newsletter to be released on January 18, 2006. Information will be posted at that time on the following websites: www.iamforkids.org, www.qualityprek.org, www.Seniors4kids.org, and www.ecaoffl.org
