UPDATE! (11.20.2009)
Investing in pre-k teachers with a bachelor’s degree actually saves money – more than $1-billion over ten years. Educational statistics in the latest national research boldly support the policy of requiring a bachelor’s degree for pre-k teachers. Students made impressive gains: 99% in print skills, 74% in spelling, and 36% in math. Comparatively, students taught by teachers with fewer credentials only improved by 26%, 18%, and 15%, respectively.
Join four of Florida’s leading legislators who are initiating action to elevate the quality of Florida’s pre-k program.
First hand accounts of state successes will be given by many early education experts such as Dr. Ellen Frede. Dr. Frede is Co-Director of the National Institute for Early Education Research and former Assistant Commissioner of Education, State of New Jersey. More national and state experts will be named shortly.
